France in chaos? - A 24-hour strike has brought chaos to the French transport system today as trade unions mobilised a mass protest against planned state pension reforms. Planes, trains and buses across the country have apparently been ground to a halt, schools shut, etc. It is being seen as the biggest challenge yet to the government of prime minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin. Memorable European Destination - Greetings! Planning an exciting 7-9 days vacation for summer 2008 (June - August) to a destination in Europe. This will be the first visit and I hope more in the future. We look at two popular destinations: Greece (Santorini/Thira) and Italy (Venice, Rome, Florence, and Sicily). Travel expense to Santorini is more expensive than to Italy. Both places offer classic architectural buildings and landscapes. Scenery on Santorini is unique especially at sunset. What are the exciting and memorable attractions? How would you compare Venice, Rome, Florence, and Sicily? (Personally, I enjoy watching sunrise and sunset over the ocean from high above.) I appreciate and look forward to reading your response about those destinations.....

View of Japan - Please view previous post: http://www.aardvarktravel.net/chat/viewtopic.php?t=31995 and highlight= This post is specifically on Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto). Japan attracts me as it offers the very purest, albeit old, Asian culture, architecture, and technology. I recently watched the film, Lost in Translation. This movie makes me want to live in Japan. I visited Vietnam, so I am familiar with the region. My real concern with Japan is the language. Please post your experience and thought on destination Japan.....

Which is your favourite city in China ? - As i had said, travel is part of my life. I travel several times with my family every year. I had visited aardvarktravel.net many times to read other traveler's experience before; but i had never log in as a member. I think i should appologize for this. Chinse Spring Festival is coming, i am not so busy these days. I'd like to share my travel experience with other travelers. I am familar with most cities of China, such as Beijing, Xian, Shanghai, Guilin, Datong, Taiyuan, Pingyao, Chengde, Tianjin,Suzhou, Hangzhou My favorite city is Hangzhou. The city is tidy, peaceful and clean. It is pleasant to walk along the West Lake with your family in the gental wind. It is July when i travel Hangzhou. It is pretty hot and wet after rain. The other reason to travel Hangzhou is there is no admission fee for most Museum. :) Suzhou share the same reputation with Hanghou; but i am not so happy in Suzhou because my car (with a Beijing plate) was not permited t...

Thoughts on Majorca? - Normally I would have imagined Majorca to be a horrible mixture of drunk teenage nightclubs and gaudy concrete 70's throwbacks. However, my dad recently mentioned that Alcudia was on his list and I've got to admit I'm surprised - it looks seriously nice, and good for the kids. Also checked out Puerto Pollensa. Does anyone have any specific hints or tips about the island or the specific resorts? Am tempted to think it could be cheaper than Rhodes as well. :)....

Travel Hangman - Time for a new game on here! I present to you "Travel Hangman". http://www.paul-johnson.co.uk/forum-images/hang.gif It's like normal hangman, except it's travel related. It might be a place, the name of a company, something that you do when you travel anything that's got something to do with travel. OK, first off we need some rules: 1. You are allowed up to 12 wrong guesses a guess could be the suggestion of a letter or the suggestion of the whole thing 2. Nobody is allowed to make a guess until the person that's started the game has responded to any outstanding guesses. For example, if someone guesses 'A', you must first wait for the originator of the game to confirm whether there is or isn't an 'A' in the word. It's also probably helpful if the originator posts a list of wrong guesses to date....
