Get Rid of the Tangle with a Garden Hose Reel

We all know that unless we have some kind of irrigation system in place, the only efficient way to get water to vegetable garden is through a garden hose. Of course, you could water the area with a watering can, but it’s likely to take hours depending on the size of the garden and the distance from the water source. Using a garden hose reel wagon lets you transport the hose simply by moving the wagon from one spot to another.

Without using a garden hose reel wagon, you have to pull your garden hose along the ground until you reach your destination.  This is cumbersome and by dragging the hose, sometimes will damage shrubbery or flowers.  When doing this, sometimes a kink forms in the hose and cuts off all the water supply, so you have to find the kink and straighten it.  In my "pre garden hose reel" days, the solution was to twist a multi-spigot tap onto my water faucet and then connect two or three different garden hoses that reached certain areas of the yard and gardens.  I'd just leave them instead of dragging the hose all over the place, creating kinks and uprooting flowers.  This is efficient but the yellow and white hoses snaking all over my yard was unsightly at best, plus I was always tripping over the hoses.    

With a garden hose reel wagon or cart, there's a handle that you can grab onto.  Just walk toward your destination.  As you wheel the cart to where you want to water, the hose unwinds itself exactly where you want it to go.  You avoid kinking, straining your back by pulling a hundred feet worth of hoses around, and have control so that you're not damaging shrubs or flowers.  

Instead of having to maneuver your hoses into nice, neat coils when you're done with your watering job, the garden hose reel makes life much easier.  Simply crank the handle on your garden hose reel and the hose is wound back onto the device evenly and without kinks.  Many models feature comfortable handles that accommodate any size hand.

There are garden hose reel wagons available in several sizes to accommodate different lengths of hose.  If you have a large property, you will want a larger model garden hose reel cart or wagon so the entire length of your hose will fit onto the reel.

Most local hardware or home improvement stores will carry a line of garden hose reel wagons or carts. Prices will vary, depending on the quality and size of the model.
