Buy A Star For a Novel Gift

It can be a real challenge to find a unique and completely original gift for your friends and loved ones.  When the holidays roll around or special occasions crop up, most of us race to the local shopping mall to try to find something special.  It's a time consuming process and, unless we are really into shopping, it's hard to find something that's truly unique.  For that reason, I've decided that for special occasions, I will just buy a star.  This may sound crazy if you're not familiar with the concept of buying a star, but it's completely feasible.

The "buy a star" process is much easier than a real estate transaction on Earth!  It's quite simple.  Simply visit the online star registry and purchase a star for around $25.  You can name your star whatever you would like.  For example, if your wife's name is Hillary, you can name it Hillary (or Hillary 1, or Hillary Smith, or whatever). After purchasing your star, you can find it with a telescope and check it out. Wouldn't it be cool to say,  "Hey, there's my star!"

There's a part of me that wonders what will happen when space travel becomes commonplace and distant planets are colonized.  Will our future space explorers change the names of our stars?  Will we have real estate rights to our stars?  Probably not.  These things probably won't happen in our lifetimes, so the buy a star gifts will remain unique and fun.

No rocket ships or oxygen tanks are necessary.  You can buy a star from the comfort of your living room, using your laptop or computer.  A number of web sites provide the exact information on how to buy a star.  For just a few minutes online and a relatively small fee, you can buy a memorable gift that will be the subject of conversation for years to come.
