Yikes - It's Time for the 8th Grade Science Fair!

If science isn't your best subject, coming up with an 8th grade science fair project idea can be daunting. However, there are some experiments that will suit your personality and still meet the requirements for the class. It may help to talk to your teacher about a few possible science projects so that  you know you're on the right track.

Surefire 8th Grade Science Fair Ideas

Rule #1 - The assignment does not have to be 100% original. Find some interesting projects that are slight variations from projects done in past science fairs.  You'll get ahead if you know the subject well. Studying past assignments or science fair projects is a great way to get inspiration.

Rule #2 - Don't be a copycat.  If you're using someone else's idea from a past fair, be sure to change it so that it's uniquely yours. Past examples serve as a source of inspiration so that you can come up with your own twist. Pretend you're the teacher who reviews 8th grade science fair project ideas. He or she has probably seen the exact same thing year after year and is not impressed with copycat projects. Try to choose something that’s interesting enough to you  so that you're willing to spend some time and creativity on the project so that it has your own unique spin to it.

Blurb Alert!
Hundreds of science fair ideas -- and the blueprints to launch them -- are just a click away.  Within minutes, you can download an awesome variety of science fair projects and instructions for all grade levels.  Some students have won first place in their science fairs by using these blueprints.  If you're stumped about an idea for your 8th grade science fair project, be sure to select a project and print it out now.

Rule #3 - Use your personal strengths and capitalize on what you are good at and like to do.  If you are a great artist, mix this into your science presentation. Are you good with computers?  Add graphs, charts and other visual aids using programs like Microsoft Excel. Work as many of your own talents into your 8th grade science fair project ideas for sizzling results.  You'll have fun, too!

Rule #4 - Keep focused. It's easy to fall into the trap where you try to tell virtually everything. Before you know it, you're covering the whole universe and totally overwhelmed.  Your science fair assignment should be targeted on one specific theory, question or goal. Begin with a statement and refer back to it frequently. If the information you're thinking about presenting doesn't make a lot of sense or relate to the one theory, question or goal you've started with, dump of it. Your teacher will thank you for it and you'll save some time and frustration.

Rule #5 - Be prepared to explain your science project ideas with others. Practice on your family members or friends.  They might have some good ideas that can help you clarify your project.  When it comes to the science fair, some teachers like to conduct interviews or may require you to give a speech about the science fair assignment. This speech may be followed by questions that you have to answer on the spot. This is why choosing a topic that is focused and that you know something about is so important.

Rule #6 - Keep it simple and don’t worry about getting too fancy. Look for concepts that you really like and understand well. Create something that explains your understanding in a creative way.

8th grade science fair project ideas may be difficult to find at first but if you use your strengths and interests you may find more than one that interests you.
