Knowledge is
Power: Criminal Reports are Empowering Tools
Most of the time, we know our neighbors. But if
you and your young family are relocating to a new home, it can
be frightening to imagine who you live next to. Even
for an established residence, it is hard to know exactly what
types of people live on your street or within five
miles of your home. Unfortunately, you could live near a
convicted rapist or pedophile. As they say,
"knowledge is power."
As a parent, I feel that these issues should be addressed
for the sake of my family's safety and protection.
Nowadays, getting the scoop on whether criminals are living in
the neighborhood is quite easy. All you have to do is
access publicly available criminal reports online.
This is an empowering experiencing, allowing you to know
whether extra precautions need to be taken to protect you and
your family.
On the Internet, publicly available criminal
reports reveal whether sex offenders live within 10 miles
of your home. I discovered that there were two living only
a few miles from my subdivision. I know their names and
addresses. With this knowledge, I can make sure that my
children steer clear of their residences.
Criminal Reports Should
Be Part of Your Decision-Making Process in Buying a
Home
Criminal reports should be considered when buying a home.
You can generally access updated criminal reports online for
free. Do this when searching for a new home. I doubt you want
to get stuck living next door to a sex offender, particularly
if you have young children. Furthermore, a sex offender living
next door can have a detrimental effect on the property value.
Let's face it; no one will be looking for a home next to a
pedophile.
So check out criminal reports and see if there is anything
in your neighborhood -- or the neighborhood you are thinking
about moving to -- that should concern you. This
information is provided to help keep you safe.
