Downloading Movies is Easy

After having a hysterectomy, I was bedridden for awhile.  Once I read just about every book we could find in the house, my days of recuperation became long and boring.  We don't get TV in our rural home in the mountains, but even if we did, I probably would have become bored with that, too.  My son came up with a good idea by moving our eMac computer up to the bedside table. Since we have a wireless Internet connection, I was able to keep entertained by surfing the net.

Movie Download Software that I Discovered

In surfing around, I discovered how to find, access and proceed with downloading movies. Using Acquisition and Azureus, I was able to learn about the different movie formats and even figured out how to play foreign films (that came with English captions)  with a user-friendly utility called VLC. I have to admit, I was pretty proud of all that I was learning while bedridden.

Hidden Gems Discovered when Downloading Movies

During my recuperation period, I downloaded several gigs of entertainment. During the day, I would spend several hours reading movie reviews and recommendations and then set up the computer so that it would be downloading movies while we slept.  Perhaps I was too enthusiastic about all the wonderful foreign and domestic movies I was finding.  I discovered several unknown gems I'd never even heard of before. Unfortunately, with all those movies at my fingertips, I watched very few of them and they're still sitting in my computer's hard drive. This happened because once I got well, I no had the time to spend educating myself on the finer points of downloading movies. In fact, my education stopped at a crucial point: I never discovered how to take the files I had so carefully downloaded and convert and burn them in a format playable on our DVD player. So, our system is bogged down with gigabytes of movies, with nobody interested in watching them on our puny 15 inch computer screen.

I found that downloading movies was a great way to pass time and to discover new and interesting film that I would not otherwise know about. Hopefully, I'll find out how to convert these movies and burn them to disc.  If I can't find the time, maybe my son can take over.  He's embarrassed to admit that his mom knows more about downloading movies than he does, and I'm sure that it will be no time before he has surpassed me in skill and knowledge so that he can show me up!
