Enjoy the Challenge of Word Games in Crossword Puzzle Magazines

Do you enjoy reading?  Or words?  You'll probably enjoy crossword puzzles, too.  Not only are crossword puzzles entertaining and relaxing, but they stimulate the mind and build vocabulary skills.   Crossword puzzle magazines include a number of word puzzles each issue, from easy puzzles to challenging ones.  If you're not into this activity yourself, you may be surprised to know that a subscription to one of the crossword puzzle magazines makes a terrific gift idea!

Personally, I prefer books and games such as crossword puzzles over television for my entertainment.  Passively sitting in front of the television seems to stifle my creativity.  These forms of entertainment are portable, too.

You'll probably want to use a dictionary, thesaurus and synonym finder to work your crossword puzzles. Some puzzle enthusiasts might claim that this is cheating, but you'll find you'll run across new words in your search for the “right” one to solve the puzzle. Even if you are using a dictionary, finding the correct words may still be a challenge!  You'll definitely bolster your vocabulary. 

Crossword Puzzle Magazines Are Good Gifts for People Who Are Sick and, of course, Healthy People, Too!

Crossword puzzle magazines are excellent gifts for people who may be in the hospital or otherwise bedridden.  At the hospital, candy-stripers might have some crossword puzzle magazines in their carts of magazines they offer patients, but your friend or loved one would probably appreciate a brand new, "fresh" puzzle magazine gift from you instead of using one that someone else has marked up. Other friends and family members may be like me and don't sit in front of the television for entertainment.  Those types of people would enjoy the latest issue  of a crossword puzzle magazine as a gift.

Don't forget that there are crossword puzzle magazines for kids too. If your child enjoys reading, give it a shot. If they enjoy the challenge, this is a good way to promote critical thinking and vocabulary building.
