Are Steaks Online Any
Good?
It's honesty time. Remember that commercial about
making Mikey eat it? Well, I kind of did that with online
steaks last Christmas. I was nervous about the condition
and quality that an online steak purchase would arrive in, so I
bought some for my neighbors for Christmas. I
figured if they didn't get sick from the online
steaks, they would be okay for my family and me,
too. Don't tell anyone!
If you're like me, you might be wondering if you’ll receive
a fresh piece of beef that arrives in a cardboard box, damaged
by heat or starting to rot. It doesn't quite work
that way. The steaks are thoroughly frozen and then
shipped in an insulated, reusable cooler. The cooler
is filled with plenty of dry ice. Although the online steaks
that I purchased for my neighbors last Christmas took about 4
days to arrive, the steaks were still frozen solid and in
perfect condition.
Quality of Steaks Sold
Online
It turns out that steaks online are actually very high
quality pieces of meat that are an amazing 25%-63%
off of regular in-store prices. These steaks that I bought
online as gifts were gourmet style and would have been quite
expensive here in town. Some vendors who sell steaks
online will also send you a free gift along with your steak.
Gifts include things like burgers, seafood or cutlery
sets. If you're going to buy steaks online for Christmas
this year, be sure to check out any incentives or bonus
gifts.
Specify The Shipping When Ordering Steaks
Online
If you're concerned about the steaks arriving at your home
or place of business when someone is available to accept them
and make sure they are refrigerated, when you order steaks
online there is an option to specify the exact delivery
date. While not every online steak vendor will
guarantee this option, many do and this is why steak purchases
online are become more popular.
Shipping costs will vary. Some vendors who offer
steaks online will offer standard shipping, as well as
FedEx or UPS expedited services. Extra fees may be added,
depending on how soon you want your purchase delivered or if
you have specified a Saturday delivery, for instance.
Depending on the season, some vendors will offer free shipping
with your purchase.
Conclusion
In my personal experience, the online steaks I purchased
still were less expensive than what I would have been able to
get at the local grocer, even counting shipping. This is
because even though the online steaks cost less per steak, they
weighed more than the "expensive versions" available locally,
were more tender and better quality.
