Antioxidant Foods Taste
Great!
Antioxidants are known to
rid the body of toxins and free radicals. Some people say
that a diet rich in antioxidants can help slow degenerative
diseases, prevent cancer, lower blood pressure, and slow down
aging.
Our bodies
cannot produce antioxidants, so we need to ingest them.
While antioxidants can be found in supplements, the best source
of antioxidants is whole food. The good news is that
foods that are rich in antioxidants taste great! Below
are some antioxidant foods that you may want to add to your
daily diet.
Fruits - Berries Are
Rich with Antioxidants
One of the
most improtant antioxidant foods is berries. Not
only are berries loaded with antioxidants, but they also
provide fiber, minerals and vitamins.
Berries that
are purple in color, such as Elderberry and bluck currant, are
considered the richest antioxidant foods. Rasberries,
cranberries, blueberries, and blackberries are also good
antioxidant foods that are rich in proanthocyanidins which help
prevent cancer and heart disease.
Antioxidant Foods Include Vegetables
Green, leafy
vegetables are a cornerstone in antioxidant foods. Broccoli,
cabbage, cauliflower and Brussel sprouds -- known
as cruciferous vegetables -- are great
antioxidant foods. They help prevent cancer and ward off heart
disease. Cruciferous vegetables contain a compound called
“indole-3-carbinol" which is an antioxidant that reduces the
risk of breast cancer and other estrogen-sensitive cancers,
like cancer of the ovaries and the cervix.
