Ideas for Dog Clothing Accessories

One of the most popular purchases for dogs these days is doggy outfits and wearable accessories.  Dog clothing ranges from pumpkin shaped outfits for Halloween to year-round bandannas. Designer dog accessories have become so popular that the market is now a million dollar industry.

Pre-made Dog Outfits and Clothing

You can purchase doggy outfits at just about any pet store or specialty store. You can also find dog outfits online. Dog outfits and costumes generally come in three sizes - small, medium and large. Specialty shops will make doggy outfits to fit the exact size of your pet.

Doggy outfits are popular ways to celebrate the seasons, such as Christmas, Easter and Halloween.  Some of our younger people love to purchase outfits for their beloved school mascot dog.  Outfitting your dog to match your family's colors for the next family photo is fun idea -- use it the photo your next batch of Christmas cards and your dog will be a part of the family.

Blurb Alert!
Never Worry About Your Dog's Bathroom Needs Again! No more "accidents"! Stuck in traffic, sleeping-in, raining outside? There are a number of reasons why your dog can't or won't go outside to go potty. Finally, relief for your doggie... and for you!

Sewing Your Own Dog Clothing

If you are handy with a sewing machine, then you might want to consider making your own doggy bandannas. To do so, all you need is about a square foot and a half of fabric in any color or style. Cut the bandana diagonally into a triangle. Meter or hem all of the edges so that the fabric is not frayed and will not come apart.

Next, sew in a simple string that will tie around the dog’s neck. If you have a large dog, you can make a large bandana. Smaller dogs should have smaller bandannas so that they do not get caught. If you have more then one dog, then you might enjoy making matching colors to suit each pet.

Size of Your Dog's Custom Outfit

Many dog owners are not sure how the dog outfits should fit their pets. You want the doggy outfit to be comfortable, but quite frankly, your dog is not going to think the outfit is comfortable in the beginning!  Dog outfits are not natural, so it will take awhile for your dog to become accustomed to wearing "dog clothing."  Your dog outfit should be snug so that it does not get caught or hung up in fences or other protruding objects, but it should not be so tight that it is hard for your dog to move around.

In the ideal doggy outfit, you should be able to fit a finger in between your doggy outfit and your dog’s body without much of a problem.
