Selecting a New Email Address

Are you receiving so much spam and junk email that you are ready to find a new email address?  It's easy to find one.

Web-Based Email Services

There are a number of vendors who offer web-based email services.  Some are free, while others are for a fee. Some email services come with your Internet service, which can be a blessing. Remember that free email addresses may not be as good as you would like, and some don’t offer a lot of features. If you are looking for a new email address to avoid spam emails, you should find one with a proven track record of filtering spam. This is pretty hard, however, because the spammers are always finding new ways around email filters.

Email Spam Filtering

Many email services have many different methods to help you deal with junk emails. Yahoo has a bulk folder, and it tries to sort through and figure out which emails you want, and which ones should be sent to the bulk folder. This doesn’t always work, but they do a pretty good job. The problem still remains, however, and seeing a large number of junk emails in your bulk folder is can become disheartening. When you have to find a missing email, you may have to sort through them.

If you need a good email service, be sure to use our search function at the top of the page to find a free program that you can be happy with.

If you need a new email address for business reasons, you want one that is tough on spam and jununk emails. You don’t have time to waste wading through the useless and annoying emails you didn’t ask for. You should find a new email address service that will only allow email to come from those in your address book. This may stop a lot of the junk, but remember that this also means new clients might not be able to reach you. You may also want to have a business email with fewer restrictions, just for new people to reach you. When you have decided on a working relationship, you can then give them your other address to use.

Using More Than One Email Address

I like to use more than one email address.  One is from my Internet service provider and I use it judiciously.  Only close friends and family have that email address and it is very rare that I receive spam.  This email runs through my Outlook program.  For my more public contact information, I like to use Hotmail and Yahoo, both of which are free and web-based, so I don't need to worry about emails reaching my computer that might have malicious viruses attached to them.  If you are looking for a new email address, you might want to consider using more than one email address.
