Ford Motor Recalls

While recent Ford Motor recalls may, at first glance, seem significant, the list below shows that the problems behind the recalls are quite minor and generally concerning defects in the windshield wiper/motor, keeping with the Ford tradition of quality.  The Ford Motor recalls for 2006 include the following series (specific Ford models are listed after the series): 

FORD MOTOR RECALLS for the Year 2006 - Series E-150

CHATEAU – The windshield wiper/washer motor may be defective. According to reports, this model’s windshield wiper/washer motor “may have been produced without grease applied to the output shaft gear.” This apparently affects high speed setting (after continuous use), causing the gear to “distort or fracture” and limit or cause loss of wiper function.  Dealers agree to have the part inspected and to have grease applied where none exists, to restore proper and safe function.

FORD MOTOR RECALLS for the Year 2006 - Series F-150

126-IN. WB STX FLARESIDE - The Ford Motor recalls include:

1. Interior Lighting, whereby there is a software error in the instrument cluster, possibly preventing the warning light for the ABS from showing if the ABS ever fails;
2. Tire tread and belts, whereby certain tire models might possibly wear prematurely; and
3. The windshield wiper/washer motor problem of above, described for the E-150, E-250, and E-350 series.
