Kids and 4 Wheelers Don't Mix
Although 4 wheeler ATVs can be quite dangerous, more parents then ever seem to be buying them for their kids. These 4 wheelers rip up the natural habitat and make a lot of noise, disturbing we humans and any native wildlife that happen to be around. More important, 4 wheelers can be dangerous, especially in the hands of testosterone crazy teenage boys. My neighbors' son was out at the gravel pits just the other week, showing off to his friends and driving his ATV up the pit backwards. He rolled over and almost tore his leg off.
A safer way to go 4 wheeling is with 4x4 trucks, another popular motor sport. Still, pumped up teenagers (girls, too) can make this activity dangerous because they are young and wild.
Personally, I won't buy a 4 wheeler for my teenage son. He can say he hates me all he wants, but I'd rather he drive our Honda Civic to the movie theaters, coffee shops, the diners and other more sane activities. Perhaps he can find some friends who can show him how to enjoy nature without ripping apart with 4 wheelers.
