Article Writing Basics

by Sean Milea

Article writing isn't so different from other traditional marketing endeavors. In fact, it's an easy way to gain more website visitors. The articles will help to establish credibility in your field and gain name recognition. The process is inexpensive. The longest part of the process is the time spent researching and writing about your topic.

People want well written and interesting articles. Don't be left behind with the changing times and ways of writing books and articles. Follow these four great methods:

Make sure there are no errors in your articles. Proofread the articles yourself and/or use proofreading software. Poor grammar, spelling, punctuation and capitalization will be a turnoff to prospective customers. And run-on or dangling sentences and comma splices are downright tacky. You're showing customers a piece of yourself and your business in every article you publish, so make sure you're displaying yourself in the best possible light.

Come up with a marketing plan, and remember that it isn't just for yourself that you are writing it. The main purpose that you have is to reach your target audience, and you must take careful aim at them if you want their attention. Make a list of all of the possible article directories or e-zines that you could use to submit your articles, then study up on them to make sure that you know how to write an article that will be acceptable to them.

Keywords are vital to attracting readers and search engine spiders to your website. Therefore, make sure you use the keywords liberally in your articles. Yahoo's Overture keyword suggestion tool or Google Adwords will help you come up with the best words or phrases to use as keywords

Practice will help you refine your writing skills. As a craft, writing does not have specific, step-by-step guidelines on how to do it. Therefore, you have the right to explore the writing process and improve your writing.
